Dear Students,
This Friday, our first cycling course for beginners and for those who would like to re-learn how to ride a bike will begin.
Would you like to get around more flexibly and quickly? Discover the beautiful Lower Rhine region while being environmentally friendly?
Then our cycling course is just right for you!
Our region is ideal for cycling: hardly any hills, good bike paths, and lots of nature. Distances are often short, and public transport is not always perfectly developed — another reason why cycling is such a great option here.
In the first part of the course, you will learn how to behave correctly in road traffic. This includes the proper behaviour at traffic lights and when turning, the meaning of hand signals and traffic signs, and the observance of traffic regulations. Safety and proactive riding are especially important.
After that, you will get on the bike — these will be provided by the university. Step by step, we will start by “scooting”: the bikes will initially have no pedals so that you can keep your feet on the ground, train your balance, and become familiar with the bike. Once you feel confident, the pedals will be attached, and with support, you can practise starting and riding. You will also learn how to brake and stop correctly, so you can ride safely at all times.
The course takes place in front of the cafeteria or in the parking garage in Kleve, allowing us to run it in any weather.
